Carlene Cross lives in Seattle, Washington where she teaches writing classes for the University of Washington and is a writing consultant.  She holds a degree in religious studies from Big Sky Bible College, as well as a BA in history and an MA in communications history from the University of Washington.

Carlene is the author of two nonfiction books, including The Undying West, a narrative history of Montana and Fleeing Fundamentalism, a study of fundamentalist religion in America. The Undying West was chosen as a runner up for the Governor’s Award in 1999 and in 2006, Fleeing Fundamentalism was chosen as a Top Book for Fall by the Seattle PI, an Arts and Media Award Book by the Dallas Morning News and a Top Book of the Year by the Kirkus Review.
